Senior dog grooming in Colorado Springs Softer grooms
Stiff joints, thinner skin and less patience for standing still. We slow down for older dogs, and there's no extra charge for age.

Senior dog grooming
different groom
A dog at 12 isn't the dog they were at 3. Joints get stiff, skin gets thinner, hearing and eyesight fade, and standing on a table for a long time gets hard. A senior groom still gets your dog clean and comfortable. We just change the pace and the handling to fit the dog in front of us.

Senior dog grooming
groom seniors
- We book older dogs at a quieter time of day, away from barking dogs
- They see the same groomer every visit, so they know whose hands they're in
- They get breaks whenever they need one
- Our tables are padded, and older dogs can sit or lie down when they're tired
- They're dried by hand while we brush, never in a cage dryer
Older dogs overheat more easily, and loud dryers frighten a lot of them. Hand drying is gentler on both counts.

Senior dog grooming
going on
Please tell us about arthritis, past surgery, heart or breathing problems, seizures, bad hearing or eyesight, and any medicine your dog takes. It all changes how we handle them. If we find a new lump, bump or sore spot during the groom, we'll show you at pickup so you can have your vet look at it.

Senior dog grooming
it's kinder
For a frail dog, a full haircut isn't always the right call. Sometimes a bath and tidy is the better choice: clean, comfortable and less time on their feet. We'll talk it through with you and do what's best for your dog that day.

Senior dog grooming
live with
Mats hurt more on thin, older skin, so a shorter cut is often kinder for a senior. It's easier to keep clean and easier to brush at home. Regular visits every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the coat, mean less work and less time on the table each visit. A standing appointment makes that easy to keep.

Senior dog grooming
home
- Keep brushing sessions short, a few minutes at a time, and let your dog lie down
- Watch the nails. Long nails make it harder for stiff dogs to stand and walk on smooth floors
- Wipe the eyes and the area around the mouth with a damp cloth
- Check for new lumps or sore spots while you brush, and tell your vet about anything new

Senior dog grooming
costs
There's no extra charge for age. A senior's price is set the same way as any dog's, by size and coat. A full groom starts at $80 for small dogs, $100 for medium, $130 for large and $160 for extra large. A bath and brush starts at $55.
Questions
questions
Is it safe to groom an older dog?
In most cases, yes, with a groomer who goes slowly and watches for signs of stress. Tell us about any health problems when you book so we can plan around them.
Can you groom a dog with arthritis?
Yes. We let them sit or lie down on a padded table, give breaks and handle sore joints gently. Tell us which joints hurt.
Do you charge more for senior dogs?
No. Price is by size and coat, the same as every other dog.
My older dog has gotten nervous. Can you help?
Yes. Dogs often get more anxious as their hearing and sight fade. A quiet time of day and the same groomer every visit go a long way.
