We followed one dog through a full groom, from check in to pick up. Here is every step, in order, and why we do it that way.

One dog, one whole day

This merle doodle came in shaggy and went home in a fresh cut and a bandana. Every dog gets the same eight steps: two baths, a full brush out, a hand blow-dry, a custom cut, nails and ears, and free finishing touches.

Step 01 of 08

Check in

Tell us the cut you want and anything we should know. A photo helps. We look at the coat with you before we start.

Nervous dog? Tell us what it doesn't like. We go slow, take breaks and keep the room calm.

Step 02 of 08

Two baths

Two baths with two top-tier shampoos, chosen for what your dog's coat needs.

Two rounds get the coat clean down to the skin, so the cut sits right.

A full brush out

A full brush out from start to finish, so no tangles are left before the cut.

Matted coat? If a mat brushes out without hurting your dog, we do it. If it would hurt, we talk to you first and shave it short instead.

A hand blow-dry

Dried by hand while we brush, with a soft wrap over the ears to keep out the noise and the air. Never shut in a cage dryer.

We don't own cage dryers. It takes longer, and it's safer.

The cut

A custom cut from nose to butt, finished by hand with scissors where the style calls for it.

Bring a photo of the look you like and we will match it to your dog's coat.

Nails, ears and glands

Nails trimmed and filed, ears cleaned and an anal gland check.

Part of every groom, never an extra charge.

Finishing touches

A cologne spray, a bandana or bows. Free, every time.

We text you 15 minutes before your dog is ready. Please pick up within an hour, unless we've planned a different time with you.

How to get ready

Bring a photo

A photo of the look you like is the quickest way to get the cut you want. We look at the coat with you and match the photo to your dog.

Tell us what your dog dislikes

Scared of the dryer, touchy feet, an old injury? Tell us at check in. We go slow, take breaks and keep the room calm.

Keep your phone close

We text you 15 minutes before your dog is ready. Please pick up within an hour, unless we've planned a different time with you.

What should I bring?

Just your dog on a leash, and a photo of the cut you like if you have one.

Do you use cage dryers?

No. We don't own them. Your dog is hand dried while we brush, never shut in a hot dryer box.

What if my dog is matted?

We check the coat first. If a mat can be brushed out without hurting your dog, we do it. If it would hurt, we shave it short instead and tell you before we start.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, for grooms. Nail trims can be walk-in, $15 to $25, cash only. Call to book.

Will you tell me when my dog is ready?

Yes. We text you 15 minutes before your dog is ready. Please pick up within an hour, unless we've planned a different time with you.

Are nails, ears and glands part of the groom?

Yes. Nails trimmed and filed, ears cleaned and an anal gland check are part of every full groom, never an extra charge.

How many baths does my dog get?

Two, with two top-tier shampoos chosen for your dog's coat. Two rounds get the coat clean down to the skin, so the cut sits right.
