Between grooms
easy at home
Brush the thick spots
Behind the ears and in the pants mat first on Bernese, Newfies and Saints. Brush those spots every few days between grooms.
Dried by hand
A giant double coat holds a lot of water. We dry it by hand while we brush, never in a cage dryer.
Every 6 to 8 weeks
Most giant breeds do best every 6 to 8 weeks, and more often when they shed. Short coats like Cane Corsos do well every 8 to 12 weeks.

Questions
questions
How much does it cost to groom an extra large dog?
A full groom for an extra large dog starts at $160. These prices are a starting estimate.
How often should an extra large dog be groomed?
Most giant breeds have thick double coats, so every 6 to 8 weeks keeps the undercoat under control, and more often when they shed. Short coats like Cane Corsos do well every 8 to 12 weeks.
Should I shave my Bernese, Newfie or Pyrenees?
Usually not. A double coat helps protect a dog from sun, heat and cold, and a shave can change how it grows back. A bath, a deep brush out of the loose undercoat and a tidy trim usually keep them cooler and cleaner. We'll look at the coat with you and say what is right for your dog.
Do you use cage dryers?
No. We don't own them. Your dog is hand dried while we brush, never shut in a hot dryer box.
Do you groom large dogs too?
Yes. A full groom for a large dog starts at $130, and a bath and brush starts at $85.
Do you groom Bernese Mountain Dogs and Newfoundlands?
Yes. Bernese Mountain Dogs, Newfoundlands, Great Pyrenees, Saint Bernards and Old English Sheepdogs are regulars.
Why does a giant dog's groom cost more?
A giant coat takes more time to wash, dry by hand and brush out. A full groom for an extra large dog starts at $160, and the price follows the time the coat takes.
