Poodle grooming in Colorado Springs teddy bears
Toy, Miniature or Standard, your Poodle gets the cut that suits them, from an easy lamb trim to a full show clip.

Poodle grooming
stops growing
A Poodle barely sheds. That's what people love about them, and it's also why they need a groomer. The loose hair doesn't fall out. It stays caught in the curls, and if nobody brushes it out, it turns into mats against the skin. A Poodle can go from perfect to tangled in a few weeks. Most Poodles do best with a groom every 4 to 6 weeks and a good brushing at home in between.

Poodle grooming
cuts
- Classic trim. A clean face, clean feet and a clean base of the tail, with a fuller coat on the body. The look most people picture when they think of a Poodle.
- Lamb trim. About one length all over, soft and easy to live with.
- Teddy bear. Rounder and fluffier, with a full face. One of our most asked for cuts.
- Show clips. The continental and other traditional show clips, on request.
Bring a photo of the look you like. It helps more than any name, because "teddy bear" means something different in every salon.

Poodle grooming
and Standard
All three sizes have the same coat and the same needs. The only real difference is how much Poodle there is. A full groom starts at $80 for a Toy, $100 for a Miniature and $130 for a Standard. Every full groom includes two baths with top-tier shampoos, a custom cut from nose to butt, a full brush out, a hand blow-dry, nails, ears, an anal gland check and the finishing touches.

Poodle grooming
your Poodle
Chelsea is a National Certified Master Groomer who grooms show Poodles. She does the detailed breed trims and show clips. Kalie loves Poodles and Yorkies. Micaela is great with the big Standards. You can ask for any of them by name, and we'll keep your Poodle with the same groomer when we can.

Poodle grooming
clips
Many of the dogs on Chelsea's table are show dogs. If your Poodle needs a traditional show clip, tell us when you book. Show clips take much longer than a pet trim, so they're priced by the hour, at $95 an hour. A clip that needs a longer coat may take a few visits of growing out, and we'll plan that with you.

Brush to the skin, not just the top. A Poodle can look smooth on the surface and be matted underneath. Use a slicker brush, then a metal comb. If the comb catches, that spot isn't done. Ask us at pickup and we'll show you how on your own dog. We sell brushes and combs at the shop.
Questions
questions
How often should a Poodle be groomed?
Every 4 to 6 weeks for most Poodles. The coat grows all the time and doesn't shed, so it tangles quickly once it gets long.
Can you do a teddy bear cut?
Yes. It's one of our most popular Poodle cuts. Bring a photo so we can match the length and face shape you like.
Do you groom Standard Poodles?
Yes, Standards are regulars here. A full groom for a Standard starts at $130.
What if my Poodle is matted?
We'll look at the coat with you first. Mats can be brushed out for a de-mat fee of $10 to $30, or a coat too matted to save needs a short cut first. We never shave down without your okay.
What's the difference between a lamb trim and a teddy bear cut?
A lamb trim is about one length all over the body and legs, with a neat face. A teddy bear cut is rounder and fluffier, with a fuller face that makes the head look soft and round. Bring a photo and we'll match it.
Why do Poodles have a shaved face?
A clean face is part of the classic Poodle look, and it keeps food and tear staining out of the hair around the mouth and eyes. If you'd rather have a fuller face, ask for a teddy bear cut.
